The Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Department of English at the University of Macau is pleased to announce the L&W Workshop and AWL Conference. The Listening and Writing Workshop aims to offer language assessment training to graduate students and ELC staff. The Assessing World Languages Conference aims to offer a platform for discussion of current issues in assessment of world languages.
The Workshop will be held on November 8 and 9 and focus on training participants in both assessing skills and quantitative research methods. The Conference will be held on November 10 and 11 and focus on research that connects assessment with teaching and learning of languages and contexts that are typically under-represented.
Abstracts are invited for 30 minute presentations and posters. They should be in Word format and not more than 300 words. We are looking for presentations and posters that are typically under-represented: languages other than English; multilingual/pluralingual classroom contexts; teacher-based assessments; and assessment policy. The Workshop and the Conference are partially funded by the International Language Testing Association workshop grants and the University of Macau’s Research and Development funds.
The language of the Workshop and Conference will be English although simultaneous translation into Mandarin and Portuguese will be available, if requested. More details will follow on the AWL2017 Conference website regarding registration and accommodation.
